Think sustainably — act sustainably

Looking ahead

LISTA incorporated environmental protection into its mission statement and corporate objectives as early as the beginning of the 1970s. Reducing energy consumption per production unit was set as a priority goal in order to promote the responsible use of limited resources. This led to the implementation of various energy-saving programmes, the development of a sophisticated logistics concept, the optimisation of the flow of goods and the promotion of environmentally friendly recycling.
LISTA AG has been certified to the ISO 14001 environmental standard since 1998, and environmental management has been integrated into the QMS manual.
By participating in the Energy Agency for Industry (EnAW) programme, LISTA has been committed to actively reducing CO2 emissions and optimising energy efficiency since 2007.
In 2023, LISTA was certified for the first time by the CSR rating agency EcoVadis and was immediately awarded the bronze medal. This certification is an important measure of sustainability and enables LISTA to focus on becoming even more sustainable.

Manufacturing

  • LISTA manufactures exclusively in Switzerland and Germany.
  • By investing in new production facilities and modernising existing ones, energy consumption is being continuously reduced compared to older manufacturing processes.
  • The switch to new production methods makes the products even more stable, with improved load-bearing capacity and therefore longer-lasting. Furthermore, fewer valuable resources such as water and energy are required during production.
  • Replacing old compressed air compressors with new frequency-controlled models results in a 30% energy saving.
  • Conversion of all production hall lighting to LED technology.
  • Systems for heat recovery and waste heat utilisation enable energy efficiency to be increased and CO2 emissions to be reduced.
  • With the commissioning of one of the largest photovoltaic systems in eastern Switzerland, covering a roof area of 15,000 m2, LISTA now generates 2 gigawatt hours per year, thereby covering more than a third of its own electricity requirements. In addition, approximately 800,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity are fed into the local grid. The switch to solar power makes a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.

Packaging and Transport

  • Reusable transport containers replace unnecessary packaging materials and ensure a sustainable improvement in the environmental footprint.
  • Rail transport is the preferred method to reduce CO₂ emissions and other pollutant emissions.
  • LISTA products are grouped geographically by recipient, and transport volumes are consolidated. This helps to avoid additional journeys.

Use and maintenance

  • The highest quality standards significantly extend the service life of LISTA products. A 10-year guarantee underlines this commitment.
  • When developing products, LISTA focuses on upgrading and adapting existing products. The products evolve in line with changing user requirements, thereby ensuring an exceptionally long service life.
  • New production processes make the products even more durable and robust.

Use and maintenance

Disposal

  • All LISTA products are easy to dismantle, ensuring that they can be disposed of according to type.

Disposal

Recycling

  • The steel processed by LISTA consists of 20% recycled material.
  • 100% of the steel waste generated during production is recycled.
  • Thanks to gas recovery and waste heat utilisation systems, some of the energy that would otherwise be released unused into the environment is fed back into the LISTA production cycle.
  • At the Erlen production plant, an average of 220 D of reusable waste such as cardboard, paper, PET, wood, etc. is collected and recycled.
